Transforming Local Living Through Intentional Web Design

Urban Edge Apartments: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), SEO Strategy, Responsive UI/UX, Analytics Integration

Background

Problem

Urban Edge Apartments needed a user-friendly website that would increase their visibility and support local SEO efforts while making it easy for potential residents to explore floor plans, access information about the neighborhood, and view contact information for the leasing team.

Process

The client and I worked together on the beginning steps of design for the website. I created mobile-first wireframes in Figma and then designed and built a fully responsive website for Urban Edge Apartments using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I integrated Tawk.to chat, Formspree, and analytics; handled SEO and local optimization; deployed the site through GitHub Pages + GoDaddy; and delivered a clean, modern site that supports the property's leasing goals.

Results

The final website is a modern, responsive, and fully branded platform that gave Urban Edge Apartments an actual online presence. Anyone interested and viewing the website can now easily explore floorplans, amenities, and community details, while the leasing team benefits from integrated chat, analytics, and streamlined application links. The site has also improved local search visibility and provided a cohesive digital identity consistent with how the company wanted Urban Edge to be seen.

Process

The initial phase was the wireframing and planning out the visual look of the website for each format was the first step I took. I then gathered all assets needed, including text and images. Mobile version was coded first. Using HTML, I built up each page and then moved onto CSS and then JavaScript. I prioritized making the site responsive, using CSS to enhance the design of all pages.

Website Rebuild with API & Web Storage Integration

Terror Trader: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery UI, Web Storage, API)

Background

Terror Trader is a year-round horror store located in Chandler, Arizona. With over 70 local vendors, Terror Trader sells masks, oddities, gothic art, collectibles, VHS tapes, and more. They also hold and sponsor events, such as, Greeting of the Ghouls, and have their own podcast.

Process

I started by mocking up a site plan and wireframing designs to fit the store's dark and immersive aesthetic. From there, I developed the  site using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, implementing interactive UI elements with jQuery. I integrated an API pulling in the most popular horror movies of the moment to dynamically display on the site. I also used Web Storage to implement a feature that would let users check off and save movies in a kind of wishlist.

Purpose

This project required rebuilding an existing website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery), Web Storage, and an external API. The goal wasn't to fix a broken site but to select a real business and recreate their website from scratch while demonstrating modern front-end skills and required technical features.

Product

The final product was a single-page, horror-themed website that matched the tone of Terror Trader while incorporating all the requirements of the assignment. It would include Web Storage for personalized features, an API for dynamic content.

Empowering Music Discovery Through Thoughtful Design

Muzak Maker: Single Page Web Design

muzakmockup.jpg

Problem

I needed to create and develop a responsive web interface interaction, placing content front and center with audio, as well as providing a highly visually driven experience. The website needed to be completely responsive on all devices without compromising performance and usability.

Process

I was given the assets and layout beforehand and needed to develop the website using HTML and CSS. Wireframes were not made for this site because of the layout being provided to me. As I do any other web development project, I developed the whole site mobile version first using HTML to display content, and the larger format after that. Once the HTML was completed, I moved onto developing using CSS to format the layout of the site, the colors, and making sure that site is completely functional and responsive.

Background

This project was developed for a platform that would appeal to music listeners to provide for a cleaner, more streamlined means of discovering playlists. The target audience for this specific website are any individuals who have a passion for music and want a simple, visually appealing place to access audio files.

Billie Eilish Tour and Music: Single Page Web Design

billie.png

Background

Billie Eilish is one of today’s biggest artists. Her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft was released, and the tour for the album was announced shortly after. The Hit Me Hard and Soft tour included 83 shows across North America, Europe, Canada, and Ireland. She has released three studio albums, as well as vinyls and merch.

Problem

Needing to provide fans a place where they can look at tour dates and see if Billie Eilish will be coming to a city near them. Announcing current tour and getting information about her music discography.

Results

The final deliverable of this project was a single-page website developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The website provides fans with updates on recent tour dates and can access the full discography of the artist. It also includes an interactive randomly generated matching game in which fans can win a vinyl record.

Process

I approached this project with a similar structure that I would with any web development project. I planned out everything beforehand by sketching the layout and building wireframes within Figma. Once the wireframes have been completed, I began to develop the site, mobile format first using HTML and then developed the larger format next, completing the HTML. CSS was next to design the layout, colors, and the responsiveness of the site so that everything is easily accessible to users and easy to navigate. Finally, I added JavaScript for the mobile navigation to enable a functional and effective hamburger menu.
